Maple for a GP?

plastic paddle tip
Forgot one thing in the previous post. Plastic doesn’t stick to wood with any of the usual adhesives (gorilla glue, 2-part epoxy or epoxy putty).

I ended up re-applying some epoxy, but drilled some holes through the joint and tapped my own aluminum threaded rod and fastened the joint. The rod was then cut to length and filed flush with the blade.

Maybe a dovetail joint …
… would be a good connection also .

The tapered bit is passed through the center of one side the connection (set from fence or guide), and the other side is using half the bit with a fence guide , but you know what I’m talking about .

dovetail
A dovetails would be really neat. Your tips end up pretty thin and my concern would be that the flare at the groove’s bottom would leave very little material for strength. Although, if you use a longer tip, or cut the dovetail groove by hand then this is less of an issue. Alternatively, one could make dovetails (e.g. finger joint) through the wide side of the blade.
