My first Kayak

Ha Ha
Thanks, so funny and I am afraid true. After I got it home last night, I put it on my porch, sat in it, petted and talked to it. I think I am going to name her.

And like I said above I am already plotting and planning.

heh heh…

Oooooand you had some good ideas, kayak maps??? Wow

Where do I get one!!

yes,
I got the roof rack, PDF, and remembered at the last minute, I needed a paddle lol.

great!
Looks like a perfect choice for what you said you aimed to do.

It’s a transitional touring boat, short enough to get around on small rivers and such, but with all the safety features necessary for the larger lakes around you, and protected ocean waters. Cockpit doesn’t look too big either, and that’s a good safety feature for rougher water.

Now look into some of the groups around you so you can find like-minded folks to paddle with. It’s more fun, you’ll learn faster, and it’s safer too.

Have fun!

Now you have a reason for a visit to the nearest local kayak/canoe shop. or mail order them. the book and maps go hand-in-hand.

great choice!!
I’ve seen the Inuit up close and it has beautiful lines and appears very well made… the cockpit is about 35x20", a Seals size 1.7 or equivalent should fit.

Another guide
I’ve been working my way through the Quiet Water guides for the last couple of years. The NY state one is a good one:

I agree
the quiet water series is great. There is also a book called “Take a Paddle” that focuses more west of you, but might have some paddles you are interested in.

I am in Huron NY, right on East Bay. We just moved to the bay, so I have been focusing on East, Port, and Sodus bays for now, but I am dying to get over to the ADKs.
