Poseidon
I owned the original Romany (16) for several years. I am 6'1 and 220 lbs. I kept it because it behaved so well in rough seas and oh how it surfed. But it hurt.
I heard a new Romany for big people was coming out; I was doing cartwheels just thinking about it. Went to a show and talked to Nigel who stated they extended the hull two inches to gain some speed, and carried the midsection width a bit fore and aft to accomodate the larger paddler, and make it faster (not so much). And of course the longer cockpit (love it!). I have not measured mine so don;t know if it is 16 or 16'2".
Bottom line is the Poseidon is one incredible boat, though if you dwell on specs, descriptions, or QC, it may drive you nuts. I have never heard anyone say they did not like a Romany or an Explorer model. Though the boat is efficient at moderate speeds, if you are going for long paddles with a bunch of Nordkaps, you better get in shape and learn how to ride wake.
