Need advice on buying a kayak

The Avocet is excellent but
be prepared to install some foam blocks/pads to custom-fit it for yourself. Almost every Avocet owner I know ends up doing it, and I’m talking about men larger than you. I’ve had one myself (RM) for several years and love it.

Another boat to try would be the Chatham 16 in plastic. It’s a blast to paddle in waves and will fit a smaller person really well. However it’s a low-volume boat and may not have enough cargo room - you need to assess yourself.

Good luck

Why I said the LV
The regular Avocet has a very beamy feeling to even me, and that with an expanded posterior from when I was younger.

LV?
Oh - I didn’t catch the “LV” part. I didn’t realize there is such a boat. New, you say?

Avocet LV is a new model

It's out in composite this year -- website says 1.5" less beam and depth than the standard Avocet. Cockpit felt much smaller when I sat in it. Don't know if an RM version is planned.
