The Alaskan Ferry is much better than any cruise ship. I have been up to Haines twice.

We were very impressed with the shower area and bathrooms for the campers even though we had booked a cabin.
It seems like it would be a great family adventure. We met quite a few adventuring Europeans doing the trip and I was surprised they knew about it.
