opening a hatch to a main floatation
chamber can be big trouble. Keep your safety paddle outside any main floatation areas.

I know, I know, it’s your call and to each his (her) own. I’m 6’ tall and I prefer a paddle in the 205 to 210 range.
Question… are you an advanced paddler? Do you paddle with a “high angle” stroke? How wide is your boat?
