usual method to increase blade volume without increasing width is to make a modified 1850's design with some length of the side straight instead of a single taper from top of shoulder to the arc of the tip.

if you wish it to load farther back in the stroke ...then you make the tip arc smaller and taper to a wider point a few inches back toward the shoulder {like a De Rijp paddle from the 1700's} many ways to cut a GP. Is no such thing as just a single way to cut one
