Paddle wear for early spring

Sounds to me like the sage advice
Is the dry suit, which makes sense in New England for the amount of paddling I’d like to do in colder weather. Kayaking would be much less fun if I didn’t make it back to shore each time!!!

Thanks to all for your input. Looking for a used breatheable dry suit, 2x if anybody knows of one…

Check REI, EMS and similar stores
I’ve seen some good clearance deals at some of them. You may be able to pick up a bargain on a new suit. Also, keep an eye on the Sierra Trading Post and Outdoorplay.com websites, as they often have good deals on dry suits.

For used gear, Craigslist is as good as anywhere.

You are correct, I’ve been there
I was doing rescue training in November in 50 degree water and a farmer john. After 10 minutes in the water I could feel that I was rapidly becoming useless. A reentry and roll became impossible without a paddlefloat. Like any good training session, I learned a lot that day.
