Protective covering for metal bars used to store kayak

My mom has some of that artificial turf type of outdoor carpet on her truck rack j-hooks, been on there for several years, held on w/ zip ties. I load my 17’ RM by sliding it up after placing the bow in one. Never had an issue w/ it sticking though I did slide it off the front once from too hard a shove.

I’m the one who suggested indoor/outdoor carpet, so it’s no surprise that I use it quite a bit. It’s just slippery enough and also shields whatever is underneath from being degraded by exposure to UV.
