purchasing canoe.. in a few hours

canoooo
well, i brought home the expedition. when i measured it from center line it does have what i’m guessing is a very mild ‘twist’ as stated in my other thread where i was pleading for advice.

at the bow seat the measurement is even

at the yoke there is a 1/2" difference, at the stern thwart there is 3/4" diff… is this going to be a problem ?

thanks for all the advice

Congratulations
Not sure I understand what it is that’s “twisted”, but it’s probably not much to worry about.

The Expedition is, I believe, the OT Discovery with a few custom fitting for Basspro. That is a very popular canoe, and I don’t think you’ll come to dislike anything about it other than its weight. But weight is part of the deal with a poly canoe, and the good news is that it will probably outlast you even if you leave it outside all year at your lake place.

Power of Attorney form instead of title
will work to register a boat in IL when the title is lost. It needs to be completed by the seller and is submitted with the registration form by the buyer.

Maybe that will work in OK, as well.

thanks
re: twisted… something i never thought about until reading and posting this forum. some of the folks here have advised to watch out for twisted plastic canoes… i rec’d detailed instructions on how to ensure the hull is straight. unfortunately i didn’t ask for clarification on how much twist (if any) is acceptable.

Congradulations!
You made a smart choice. Put away the the tape measure and start paddling. IMHO buying a canoe is a lot better than spending that same money on a wide screen 52" LCD TV. Would you spend much time checking those measuements before using it? Opinions here including mine are easily offered. If you really enjoy paddling you’ll heft a heavy boat and paddle in circles if you have to.

loaded and ready to head out
here is the craft !

paddles with moderate flex will be a lot

friendlier on a day paddle...with boats a little heavier than the composites. Let the paddle do a little of the flexing for you, usually via a less dense wood...and at the end of the day a paddler with a slightly less-stiff paddle will have far fewer aches & pains...
