303 Aerospace, Armor-all, and Penetrol can all leave a bit of an oil slick initially after application. I use a microfiber cloth to hand buff the surface, then give it a rinse with a garden hose before taking to the water. That will get rid of most that is going to want to come off.
Applying a wax or glaze to those Woodsman hulls can be done, but is tricky. That olive drab color loves to show ugly swirl marks. If you use such products, I would suggest applying them to only a very small area at a time and buffing thoroughly before the stuff can dry.
