hmm
just wondering, whats the fix?
Duct tape the color of your boat.
The Fix for Tarpons
The fix is posted in the recall notice:
“CORRECTIVE ACTION BY DEALERS - INSERT CROSS-LINKED POLYETHYLENE FOAM BLOCKS BENEATH SEAT FOR STRUCTURAL SUPPORT AND INSERT FOUR FOAM PLUGS INTO POSTS TO PREVENT LEAKING.”
http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/recalls_detail.aspx?id=070013T
The recall is just over a year old and the notice also states that the case is still open. That makes me believe that there are still defective kayaks out there. That, and my water-logged Tarpon.
My dealer also had no idea about the recall. I think WS did their best to keep this quiet. I assumed that WS would be legally required to notify all owners of defective boats. I guess not?
Recalls are red flags to me, regardless of what product your dealing with: automobiles, electronics, appliances, etc…
I put foam plus in all but 2 of the
scupper holes just to keep crud and critters out.
Huricane Phoenix
Is very close to the Tarpon and lighter. Costs more though.
