They would run me and my patched up Santee 116 off…
No worry. I’ll take you to a less crowded surf break first. Of course, I will keep my distance to protect both of us.

“You will keep your distance?”…
I don’t know if it will ever happen, but Lake Pontchatrain kicks up from time to rime and after talking to you and @Peter-CA, I might actually put on a PFD, put on the Spray Skirt and go give it a try. Never saw the attractiveness to it up until now.
What are judges looking for and assessing in a surf kayak/waveski comp? Found a good primer video by an Irish comp surfer. Bit old but still applicable (although missing more advanced aerial moves):

Just give it to Jenny…
I did a couple of those just the other day in the Santee 116…
I understand her excitement about kayak surfing but this experience with Santa Cruz boardie localism is not unexpected. Takes a long time to get accepted in some “highly localized” surf spots, if ever at all. I consider SC “accessible” only during the annual surf paddle festival which is sanctioned by the municipality. Even then, “drop -ins” by aggro boardies occurred quite often in the middle of paddle comp heats… If you go there on non festival days, better be ready to defend yourself.
