Hmmmm - yes HowardJones9933 lives on?
The messages he is sending don’t seem to change.
He would be the buyer.
I have multiple email accounts for a reason… I had a Nigerian posing as a local in a very unbelievable, nearly impossible situation on eHarmony. eHarmony ended up identifying him as a scammer.
So I am glad I googled him which led me to this page. He only has a lame email of mine that leads to almost nothing, unless he is really good at worming his way into things? We hadn’t gotten to the payment part, but I was wondering how that might go? Now I know it probably won’t!
Ha!
He just emailed back that he was military in Colorado and had all kinds of conditions for the exchange of money and the shipping. So glad I found this forum! Interesting that HowardJones was used as he is a one hit wonder?
Another one popped up. Andy14 asked me to text him. I used my google number and he wanted my folder. When I insisted on something other than his cashiers check, he didn’t pursue the deal.
I also just sold my Impex to a poster in Arkansas. He couldn’t have been more cooperative! So easy to tell the good guys from the bad guys.
Ahh, I remember the good old days, when a cashier’s check was the way to go. Darn scammers wreck everything.
Yup, cashier’s checks (which used to be as “golden” as cash) are now viewed with such suspicion by banks that I had to wait 10 days for the $209,000 check issued by the buyer’s mortgage bank at the closing 3 for rental property last Spring to clear my bank so I could draw on it. So when I sold the second property last week I opted for direct wire and had liquidity access to that in less than 24 hours.
I recall when we were building our house, we had saved up a bunch of money we were using before resorting to the construction loan. We had it in a Money Market account with our financial advisors. After that ran out, and we were getting normal draws, the builders were happy. They hadn’t mentioned it, but they had to wait like that for those MM checks to clear. It was all due to the post-9/11 financial rules, where anything over what, $10k? has to sit and stew for a while, to be sure it isn’t funding terrorism.
I suspect the banking industry had their finger in the pie on that regulation, I noticed I was charged a fee for the wire transfer. What a racket for the banks. They make millions by parking individuals’ and small businesses’ funds in their own coffers for days or weeks and getting short term interest on it. Since money is mostly just an electronic vapor any more there is no rational excuse for these stalling tactics. The bogeyman of “terrorism” has become a smokescreen to divert attention from influential business sectors bleeding the public.
Except profiteering by financial institutions …
Yes, I know, we’re all shocked.
I just got hit by Howard Jones. thank you to everyone who posted here.
Here’s another one to add to the list. Dicksonads rd8275779@gmail.com. Asked what the “asking price” was. Well it’s in the listing “dick”.
Weird email address.
Wanted me to connect directly.
Asked no questions about the boat.
Wanted to pay by check (said no to Paypal).
Wanted all my info before sending payment (again by check).
Disappeared after I said Paypal only.
If it smells fishy it probably is fishy.
howardjones9933?
It’s gone for now but no doubt will be back under a different name and ISP.
Thanks for taking care of that.
Jeff
From howardjones9933:
“Due to the nature of my job in the military I only have access to email for now. I need your name and address so that the eCheck can be emailed to you. I will also wait till you cash the check at your bank for clearance before my personal shipper will come for the pick up.”
Bless his heart, poor little scammer.
I got the same thing.
I bought that canoe from Joe in New Smyrna Beach. It was kept in the garage on the backside of their townhouse.
I’ve recently noticed false websites selling new, high quality canoes kayaks, paddles, climbing gear, etc for ~$100.
That’s good to hear. I hope you enjoy it. I bet it’s a nice paddling canoe.
It is. I’ve only had time to paddle it twice. Once on a small, local river and again down a bayou and into Lake Pontchartrain. It is a great paddling canoe and I look forward to many years of using it.

In the interest of staying ahead of the scammers, this might be a new (or “rebranded”) one:
robjoelads
Just offered to have a mover agent pick up my kayak. LOL
Scammer alert: roghen24
“I will propose payment with a Check. Pick up is to occur after you have received & cleared the payment. If you accept my terms, let me have your full name, mailing address and phone number to send payment to you asap.”
Yeah….no.
