Don’t forget some classics
Impex Mystic, Northwest Sportee… These can be found in fiberglass and plastic. Mariner Coaster. The Coaster is what the mew sea play kayaks are based on…
Perhaps my Necky Looksha Sport
would fall into the play category. Might still be a few kicking around on the used market.
On my second
I am on my second Alchemy. Sold the first mostly so I could get a new color (had red-orange, which was too popular could never pick myself out in photos and videos). Now have lime green, which no one else )(yet) has. Great little boats.
My girlfriend had an Alchemy S, but it was too big for her at 110# and 5’1". She did fit, but the cockpit was so large she would sometimes fall out when trying t roll. She now has a Valley Gemini RM (which may be another to consider).
Thanks for the replies
After reviewing the suggestions here, I think I may have found my boat.
I located this review
http://seakayakphoto.blogspot.com/2013/01/p-delphin-155-long-term-test-and.html
and after reading it I felt pretty convinced this is the boat I’m looking for. Interestingly, before I posted, it was not my first choice.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I’d think so
Shorter, narrow, lots of rocker. Probably a few others that fit the description, before it was coined.
Nice
Sounds like a good fit for what you want to do.
The Hammer is tempting, and I’ll admit it’s a total blast to surf and rock garden with, but it’s not the best do-all sea kayak. It’s a specialized craft, and the fun fades pretty quickly when paddling any distance. Great park and play boat, and if you do slog out to a nice rock garden, you’ll be rewarded with really fun handling.
