I always wear it
I’ve just becomes accustomed to it, flat or not, hot or cold. I don’t even notice it now. For me I really don’t see a downside but I can certainly understand how other paddlers may not want to always wear it.

I Always Wear One
I got caught without one early on in my paddle career in the middle of a river, about a mile and a half from shore. The wind kicked up and the resulting waves filled up my cockpit seemingly in the blink of an eye.

Skirts

I use a semi skirt in warm weather to shade my legs. I always carry my full neoprene skirt as the weather can change quickly.
