super ! does everything a river/lake canoe should do but glide like a racer.

ugh, not folding
I have friends with folding boats. They seem very inconvenient. looking for get out fast. Otherwise, kids and others will find some reason to stall me (not always on purpose, but anyway…)

Ha. Ha! I thought about asking
about paddle recs, but sometimes this feed confuses me more than helps. Opens up too many choices. Through my own “research” did decide to get one straight and one bent paddle.

But… now what material and what shape? I really like the Bending Branches ones: Hmmm? Traveler and Viper? Explorer and Cruiser?

OK, I’ll bite. Suggestions? Remember, I am a beginner, but expect to grow into it a bit…

Vagabond with dog
I paddle a Vagabond with my border collie. I’m about 175# and she is about 35#. She likes to stand on a yoga mat in the bow. The mat gives her better footing in the wet boat. I put my dry bag and extra gear behind me.

This arrangement would work for a couple of nights camping out using light weight camping gear. Backpacking equipment is what I use; just keep it less than about 40# and you should be good to go.

With the kid I think a smaller tandem would be better.

I have no knowledge about the other boats.
