I got a Solo Plus for $450 last year
at the end of the season from an outfitter in Madison, WI. It was royalex and was obviously abused, but it saved me $400 over the best local price of a new boat. My wife (a non paddler) thinks it’s stable enough for the two of us at a total weitht of about 290lbs and I paddle it tandem (5’6", 150lbs) with no problems. I don’t fish, but this boat might work well for you.
