Somtimes I have fto face the facts!

I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis. You have relatives and that’s good. I hope you have a warm and loving community like my husband’s friend Mark had when he was diagnosed with ALS.

What a beautiful spot. Maybe you can do a quick paddle on Lake of Two Rivers. Easy beach to put in and you can paddle up the Madawaska river. We have visited Algonquin many times. Trying for a Friendsgiving this fall. I hope you are going somewhere equally beautiful and peaceful.

Oh Andy. I’m so sad to hear that. Let your kayaks take you on wonderful voyages in your memories. I hope you can still find joy and peace in the small moments. :white_heart:

i can, I have loads of photo-s and videos of each time I paddled!

Hi Andy,

I’ve just recently come back to this forum after having been absent from posting for a while (happily so far, not yet absent from paddling). I wanted to mention that over the years, I’ve always enjoyed your contributions to these forums, and so it’s not just your own fond memories, pictures, and videos you can continue to enjoy, it’s what you–and many others here and in other paddling related forums–have already given to the rest of us to continue enjoying as well. I hope you will also continue to revel in the knowledge of all you’ve given to others.

While I’ve shot just a few pictures here and there along the way, for the most part, my experiences and memories continue to accumulate in my heart, soul, and in my “mind’s eye”. As long as any one of these three venues remain, for me, open for business, I too will continue carrying the joys and life lessons paddling has given me over these many years. In fact, the very most memorable of my experiences were naturally not captured on camera/video, as I was so captivated by the moment, even with camera in reach, I felt no impulse to distract myself with such things, and have never regretted these “moments of missed external media record keeping”, so deeply seared into the rest of my being they will remain as long as I remain extant.

I’ve been fortunate to have been able to “maintain my immaturity” long enough to continue paddling, walking, bicycling, and Nordic skiing until now–and hopefully well beyond now–but there comes a day for all of us to “face the facts” of certain activities winding down. Even if eyes and ears eventually fail some of us, may heart, soul, and mind–in any combination–continue to bring smiles to our days.

Thanks again for all you’ve given to us over many years of your own wonderful adventures on the waters of your life so far.

Many thanks Water sprite. Paddling to me was a joy. I have paddled many places And have passed thaT joy tO my grandkids
I may not paddle again bjt. they will. My legacy

Thanks sing

Andy, sounds like you did it all, but best of all you passed it on! I doesn’t get better than that. That’s a legacy.

And love and peace.

Andy - I very - very - much appreciate you emphasizing how you’ve given your young’uns a love of the water and paddling. You can’t get a better legacy than that. In fact, maybe we all can contribute pics of our kids and grandkids etc. on the water. Both a testament to you and encouragement to those of us (still) able to paddle. Thank you.

All our time here is limited, so our true value is what we pass on to benefit others.

Sorry to hear of this development. As has been said - “wishing you grace”. And wishing there was something we could do to help. Do you want/need books?

Tomorrow, 2 of my old friends are bringing me lunch and visiting me!
