Speed question

Formula info
The ^ is raised to the power i.e. (1+1)^3 would be 8. 2x2x2.

The 1.34 came from calculation on deep, full keeled sailboats. This newer calculation uses different criteria to figure speed. In the old method displacement to length was not a consideration, that was pretty much standard(therefore the 1.34).

wave drag huh?
Thanks greyak…cool stuff. It seems to make sense intuitively that somehow the physics is changing as one pushes a boat against it’s wall…I hadn’t heard about wave drag before.

My experience with solo canoes is that shallow arch hulls can be over-driven more easily than shallow vee hulls, and that in general longer boats have softer “walls”, but that the lowest volume boats (Flashfire and Blackhawk Zephyr) can be over-driven the most.
