Strange possible encounter ...

Well, at least judging from …
… How one of the young ladies looked from 100 feet or so off shore, I could easily have been obtained. On the other hand, based on how I might appear up close, she may have lost any interest…

Good clip of the tides in that spot:

Definitely could see that …
… Over by the Dumplings, from your friends house towards land.

I was off Bull Point (found this map below), just about north of where the #5 is on the map, past that large rock, heading south toward what I believe is called Fort Cove.

Thanks for the tip on theft at the landing. There were a lot of people there … a whole diving school it looked like. I have locks on my Thule rack.

Sorry, here’s the map

Interesting …
… Water in motion can be powerful and hard to spot sometimes.

I did see a few “boils” around. I’d describe that as what looks like a roughly smooth circular area, noticeable in contrast to the ripples and chop around it, with the water moving outward from the center in a kind of boiling action. I suspect these pop up from current and wave action on the topography below. Some I saw were large, like the length of the boat.

However paddling through these had no effect that I could tell on how the boat behaved, just water motioning in a different direction.

Dolphins in the bay …
Looks like some have been spotted last fall and this year in the bay. I’ve been on the bay since I was a kid, parents always had a boat. Never saw a dolphin, but have seen a few sharks now and then, and seals. Would be neat to see a dolphin.

diver? They're probably the most numerous finned creatures of any size around there in August.

The occasional Mola mola has been spotted in the bay, too. It got warm early this year.
