Around here the water is still brutally cold. Ocean is in the 40’s, rivers are in the 30’s. In those temperatures, a PFD just extends the inevitable if you are in the water for a while but don’t have cold water gear. Always sad to see these reports. We had one in January. Kayaker launched in Narragansett Bay at noon as a storm was coming in. They found his kayak the next day. I never heard that they found the kayaker.
