Make Sure You Get the Latest Design
For they keep improving them every year and they are not bulky anymore like the original one I wear that’s about 7 years old. No worries about disqualification, since most racers in the U.S. have switched over to the ocean racing PFDs, with the Mocke being the most popular. Plus, some of them are also sponsoring races and I don’t think it would be too cool to disqualify a racer for wearing a pfd made by the sponsor.
I checked out the Ocean Paddler
It looks good and I’m sure it is, but I am sold on Mocke’s mesh construction. It’s very cool (literally and figuratively), the high-visibility orange truly is visible from far away and I have testimony from several paddling friends here in TX that it is the best they’ve ever worn.
During the hot summer months here I get overheated and always wind up taking off my regular touring type III. I suspect that won’t happen with the Mocke. But I will keep a regular touring PFD for the winter, as it helps with insulation on those chilly days!
Just curious ?
What do these foreign ones cost ?

Astral V8
Very good vest for summer. Much cooler than anything I have found.
That’s Right! They Go Fast
The U.S. dealer that brings in the Mockes via container sells out in a couple of weeks. The older models, if available, go for around $99.00. They are designed for racing and not winter wear. That’s why they are called “Mocke Racers.” Oceanpaddlesports brings them in, so I’d check with them when the new 2016 models are available and their price?
