That’s interesting on the weight. Ruth’s GRB started at 8oz and is about 9 now after the repair. My Zav is a “Rec” and came in around 13 oz new and is a bit over 14 now. I’ve had both out on the Manistee & it’s a VERY noticable difference switching from the GRB to the Zav. The Zav initially feels like a club.
Yep them paddles are made to be used.
I weighed my GRB again and it’s 10.9 ounces. Definitely an all day paddle for me. I think sometimes balance can be a factor. I have a straight shaft Black Bart that’s 15.3 ounces but it’s an all day paddle with good balance. I had a Zav Rec some years ago (and can’t remember what happened to it…I liked it) and IIRC it was kind of blade-heavy.
Maybe it went the same place as mine.
It went to central Florida with my Wenonah Voyager.
