Tiderace shows what Greyak saying
It is interesting to see what happens for Tiderace kayaks as they are now in this same matrix as P & H and NDK, Valley.
Aled William as WilsoJ pointed out to me designed the Romany, but few know his stature as both world class paddler, coach, and designer, and now creator of Tiderace boats after the Rockpool change.
Evidently the main if not The reason for leaving Rockpool was the dream of Aled to have a vertically integrated company that made many more boats and designs.
Having got one of his boats, it was almost perfect. It had a small glitch with the foot pedal and skeg, something he immediately remedied, It occurred on only a few boats.
He is a perfectionist, this is his life work, and yet just as Greyak states, it is likely an enormous project to get the boats made with consistent quality and to market them and be successful.
I doubt the profit margin is all that fantastic bot for him and the dealers.
It is a tough tough business. Personally, I think we are truly blessed by these people, whose integrity, work ethic, talent, creativity and imagination broaden our world with these wonderful boats.
For me, it allows me entrance into a tradition of sea faring that enriches my life measurably.
Then there is the perspective that
paddlers don’t want to piss off brand X in case they lose their current sponsorship.

Just heard from Nigel Dennis
Speaking of paddler/designer/manufacturers... I emailed SKUK to ask about when the new boats (Pilgrim and Pilgrim Expedtion) will be available in this country and if MIKCo will have any this summer.
This morning I got a response and it was from Nigel himself.
It really does impress when you hear from a 'real' person and not a flak.
See my other post about…
… them not bothering to learn squat about the product (yet setting the marketing message, dictating changes, etc…).
You already know all that though…
I’ve never heard from a…
… “flak” so I really couldn’t say.
He’s got some groove going on
Business is good for him and he’s heading in good directions. Super ambassador to this sport!
Yes, and even with the big guys
a model or two slip through marketing without being messed with
