Upstream end in first

I was illustrating the wrong way

Many thanks Fat Elmo
and others for contributing to this thread. For a relative newbie, this stuff is priceless, even when already doing it. Things that folks who have been paddling for 20 years take for granted, many of us are still struggling through - both to figure out and understand.

As an example, I have found myself turning upstream before taking out particularly at one take out with a comparatively strong current but had not really thought through why it is better. Even when already doing something, the posts here make me think about (or explain) what dynamics are at work on the boat.

My enjoyment of paddling has been positively impacted by many of the posts here at p-net, please never think that something is too basic or too intricate (at the other end of the spectrum) there is always someone that will benefit from discussion of technique.
