Used canoe prices going down?

I have no idea if canoe prices are going down. I find the type of boats people use is very regional. Inland in the state of Maine I expect to see a lot of tripping canoes (old town) on cars. I suspect it might be true in Minnesota as well although I haven’t made it there to paddle yet. My guess is more lighter composite tripping boats (wenona) there. In the adirondacks (NY) I have seen a few pack canoes but a lot more standard tripping canoes.
In the midwest is where I have seen racing canoes- jensens but again mostly a lot of standard rentals. In hawaii outriggers, including those high end carbon fiber singles.

In the southeast- on the ww rivers there once was a very active ww solo canoe community but perhaps that is fading a bit- daggers, whitesell, bluehole canoes seem to have all faded. Mohawk moved to tn at some point. I haven’t noticed a lot of specialized canoes in arkansas or missouri or texas, just standard rental stuff. In fact I was shocked to see someone fishing from a pack canoe on the llano river. Mostly though sit on top kayaks seemed to be the norm in texas and oklahoma. In wv not a lot of canoes- ww kayaks, rec and fishing kayaks, and rafts. You pretty much have to go to a summer camp to find canoes where I live. I see more canoes in Ohio than in WV.

Nationwide the liveries are changing from canoes to single recreational sit on tops like the jackson riviera.

I found that its hard to get people out in a paddle boat. It’s too much like work. I didn’t have money for boats after I started raising kids. When I did have the uncommitted money, I bought a kayak, because It gave me access. I started at a salary of $2 @ hr. Burger flippers now get $15 @ hr, but ather then invest in a family, many kids are buying $8 coffee, $7 beer, and borrowing money for a sea scooter, so they can bar hop to the water side Tiki Bars with their friends.

That’s not the only reason, but there is a distinct decline in physicality of kids today. That isn’t necessarily bad, but it would answer part of the mystery of why nobody is buying used boats. The bad news is that it’s a buyers market. The good news is that it’s a good time to buy a canoe.

Sone states are already in a recession. Prices will continue to slide.

Eggs are $3. Funny people didn’t seem concerned while inflation climbed for four years and utility bills skyrocketed. That is one solution for climate control. Tax us into submission.
