I didn’t take it personally…
but my dog did.
He rolled in a dead racoon yesterday and he now thinks he smells especially nice.
Hiking/Kayaking
As a newbie kayak owner, I have found that places I went to go camping/hiking are also good spots to take my kayak out.
If I could secure my dog in my pop up camper, I would not take her kayaking as it’s a hassle. Although, I did enjoy my time on the water with her.

dog
I take my 30 lbs. dog out in a tandem kayak all the time. I realize that there is a big difference in the weight of your dog, but the front seat in a tandem kayak should take alot more than 110 lbs. I am 190 lbs and I’ve had a friend of similar size sit up there.
dog
I’ll add that my boat is a Hurricane Santee 140T and not a sit on top. It’s capacity is 475 lbs. If I don’t have the dog with me I throw in a loaded dry bag to help with weight balance. I’ve never had trouble paddling it solo.
For daytrips, a tandem or tri sot
will serve your purposes very well.
For trips, a canoe with some volume will work fine.
That’s a rat, and not a big rat.
buy a canoe or a bigger boat
dogs in kayaks not a good idea.
In a solo kayak
I bought a canoe for the same purpose. But if you have to paddle solo kayak with your dog, check this out for the “pet platform”: http://www.kayrak.ca/#
My Dog
My chihuahua is only 3-1/2 pounds. She did pretty well in her carry pouch, but it made it harder for me to paddle as it was a bit in the way.
Now I bought a small carry case that’s all vented and she can also see me, so I am going to try that. I’ll put the very small carry case in front of me, between my knees. I only kayak in very calm waters so she should be okay. I have a floatation device for her also.

Wet Dog smell
If a dog is kept appropriately clean and groomed, she won’t smell any worse when wet than her owner.
