Why did WS texture the hull?

Think Salty nailed it: Benefits to production process(primary), with no real downside and some possible aesthetic upside (consistency and lifespan of appearance) for retailers/consumers (secondary). If there’s more to it than that, just look at what’s textured and what’s not for clues (beside smooth logo areas. Logos are likely in-mold graphics - and even if not - those areas would still need to be kept smooth in the tool).

Interesting responses. I noticed the poly version of the Romany has, what I assume, is a similar finish. Very disappointing, unless there is a good reason for it. Looks like it was made by Mattel.

Mattel is exactly what I thought when I saw the hull.



It just looks wrong, and kind of cheap. (maybe that’s just me).
