You're doing it wrong!

I feel your pain. The " I have to be home by" time announcement is my biggest pet peeve thus far. You make a plan. Determine the time from launch point to haul out will be approx. +3 hours (paddle a lot of rivers here). It takes 1 hour to arrive at haul out to stage a vehicle. Then another hour to drive to launch point and gear up. It is now 8 am. We are ready to go and that is when the “I need to be home by noon” announcement comes.
It baffles me every time how people think time works. You can ask everyone the “time question” when making the plan and they always say they are free all day until you push your boat in the water.

I remember the same thing happening when I was out with a group of canoeists and kayakers. One of our group reprimanded a jet ski driver for buzzing us, which made him so angry he flipped the jet ski and dumped himself and his female passenger into the water. I really enjoyed his downfall.
