It works pretty well as my skirt will slide over the belt of the PFD.then I can just push the tunnel down and then wrangle the top of the skirt then pull the belt cinch back up.
Yay!!! The shipment is in Philly! Joys of intl. shipping.

I installed an electric bilge pump with a magnetic switch in my Dagger Stratos last fall but didn’t get to “test” it until the surf sessions of this past weekend. As surf paddlers know, even without a swim or an skirt implosion, water is going to seep into the cockpit in the break zone and foam pile. The longer one plays, the more water in the cockpit.
Well, the electric pump certainly proved a valuable addition, at the “cost” of an additional 4 llbs to the kayak’s overall 53 lbs. It drained fast and without effort most of the water, down to the last .5", sloshing around the pump and seat area. That last .5" was a “pain”. No way to bail it really. Only options are to sponge or pump. My Harmony pump did the job, but with some effort and time. I’m up for reducing time and/or effort.

Just got the pump. It is a good looking and comfortable to handle tool. Real world testing at surf session tomorrow.

You should have indicated your P.com fame on the order. You would’ve gotten some extra swag with that pump.

So I have used the SGL pump several times now to empty the bit of water that seeps into the cockpit during my surf sessions. (I have an electric bilge pump for major pumping should I swim and have to self rescue). I definitely like and find this pump faster and more comfortable to use than my Harmony. Is it 2-3x as fast to match the premium? No, but it is worth to me since it’s a good piece of equipment. Similiarly, my Sterling carbon Kayak is 3-4x more than my other longboats and provides 25% in less weight and greater rough water performance. Value is subjective (and dependent on financial means). For me, it’s worth it.

I’m glad you’re finding the same results as I did. Better performing tools usually cost more than run of the mill. In this case if that means I can empty another kayak 30% faster I can have another kayaker underway that much faster equaling safety.
I have more Segla Gear pumps, paddles and accessories arriving today and am looking forward to putting the Contact Tow Quick Release into use. I have a video Segla sent me but still have questions on its use so am still a bit puzzled on its function so the best way to learn is to try it. More on that soon.
