A bit of canoeing today

Today, Frank, a frequent accomplice on many of my misadventures joined me canoeing on Big Creek and the Little Saluda River. We were at the upper end of Lake Murray. The lake level is high so there was little flow, and lots of Duckweed . A nice breeze helped keep the heat tolerable and we paddled in the shade when we could. Took our tenkara rods and did a bit of casting had two gar hit a small spinner, but their hard jaws don’t hook easily. It was a really nice day on the water. We saw deer, musk rats, gar, redheaded and pileated wood peckers, an osprey, blue herons, coopers hawk, fly catcher, and a possible otter.
