a little love for the kajaksport viking

at 5’9 and 165lbs…
(and rising) the viking felt just-right.

even though the back deck is about 1/2" higher than the romany and avocet, the way the combing is shaped i felt i could lay-back farther in it.

i really dig those crazy wide foot pedals, too.

Viking qualities

Kajak Sport makes very good boats. The Viking is faster than other Brit Style day boats.

As far as beam, it is 21.75" according to Sea Kayaker. That makes it a quarter of an inch wider than a Romany and narrower than an Avocet.

Also according to Sea Kayaker, its foredeck is 11.75" and rear is 8.5" An Avocet has 11" fore and 7.5" aft. My Elaho has 10.5" fore and 7" aft. Aquanaut has 11.5" front and 7.5" rear. Explorer 12.25" fore and 7.75" aft.

The Viking Expedition is on my short list of candidates as my new day boat. I hope to get back into one to demo early this Spring.
