A question about my new PFD

I recieved my new Perception Kayak today along with a new paddle and PFD. The boat is great. I do have question about a “doohickie” on the PFD. I have gone to Stohlquist’s website and they list the aSea PFD, and list the features. However there is a square plastic buckle type attachment on the back left shoulder. Any insight into what it is for? I am assuming it is for some type of rescue beacon. How close am I to being right?
