Has anyone recently paddled Alexander Springs recently? I read the latest pnet trip report (2007) and they said that there was a lot of downed trees that made it hard to navigate.
I had heard that the 2005 hurricane season had caused many trees to go down and had made the creek almost impassable.
I’m planning a trip down there and will most likely have some inexperienced paddlers with me so any info would be greatly appreciated.

When are you coming?
I haven’t paddled there since May, and it was fine then. Since then we’ve had a lot of rain and water is high everywhere. I plan to paddle there again within the next couple of weeks.
You would never have a problem at all if you launch at the park (the headwaters) and go downstream and back up. The current is negligible, so that is an easy, enjoyable thing to do.

Feb is on the other side of
hurricane season; hopefully all will still be well in Florida.
