The weather has also been slowing progress of my own project(s), though not boat related. It’s hard to work outside when it’s -20°C [-4°F] and your hands are useless after 5 minutes or less. The pain when they’re reheating is legendary.
Only 21 days until Spring …
My long haired cat is at the very beginning of losing her winter coat, checked this morning and it is time to start weekly sessions with the shedding comb. Either spring is on the way or I need to turn down the heat.

Be sure to thank your cat for that awesome process indicator!
Gunwale braced and riveted.
Reassembled and riveted back together. Just one more rivet to go.
Next:
- Un-hog it
- Leak/float test
- Repair any leaks & polish it up
- Go fishing
These photos are exactly what I’d do with the canoe.
In fact, I am currently & actively seeking a still intact, real cheap, “beater” canoe to make into a flower bed.

Those are cool but I’ve run out of places to plant bushes or canoes.

That’s nice. Start a thread on canoe based mini-gardens and aquascapes. Maybe Reader’s Digest will sit up and take notice
Started with 2 1/8" dent at the worst part.
Created a jack-frame from old pallets; oak for the cross braces; pine for the verticals. Grade 5, 5/16" bolts holding it all together. Used a Hi-Lift jack to gently, but firmly apply pressure to the cross braces, the least bent braces first, working outward-in. There are 1 1/2" thick wood blocks under the outside of the cross braces to prevent them from tearing the skin.
Catastrophic jack-frame failure on the very last crank of the jack …
But it didn’t matter. It did its job. There shall be no hogging.
Live riveted.
Anyone have any suggestions to make those flat aluminum seats more comfortable? Aside from remove & replace?
Cheap foam stadium cushions, aka kneeling pads. Many have carry handles cut into them; they’re closed-cell, I think. I’ve got a few of them around, and they last for years.
You want to keep them from sliding sideways (or any other direction), and for that you might run a few thin beads of silicone adhesive-sealant (Lexel or the like) on one side. Let it cure, and it’s a grip-strip.
My name suggestions are Beater or Batting Practice.
Are you planning to smooth it out the rest of the way or let the paint hide the dents?

Those aren’t dents. It’s patina.
I read that the dimples in golf balls make them more aerodynamic. Maybe that would apply to hull speed.

That’s what I ended up getting. Three foam cushions for $15.
I’ll take some of the larger dents out, but I’m not too concerned about them. There shall be no paint.
By the way, she’s ready and her name is BB-38.

The Garden section kind. I’ve used one in the three day camping trip at the Okefenokee.

Where did/will you mount the 14" guns?

Well done!
Here’s her namesake, the USS Pennsylvania, leading my grandfather’s ship, the Colorado and three cruisers into Lingayen Gulf, Philippines to duke it out with the Japanese forces.
No leaks. First time out, Memorial Lake.
Great restoration! Always good to see a hull come back to life. It was enjoying watching the techniques you used to pressure the hull back to shape.
Congrats, Schuylkill! You did a great job! Wishing you many happy days paddling BB-38.
