... and now: Ceiling Storage Straps?

Hmm… what is the best way to store it?

from the ceiling how do you plan on releasing them to let the boat down?????

>>Mind you, I am kicking ideas around... I have not come up with the perfect idea yet. Well, at first I thought the main thing was getting the kayak up. Lowering it should much easier. I would use a step ladder to reach the buckles and press the lever to free the strap letting the boat descend on its own weight... I know, ackward to say the least :)

you might do better by building a rack out of wood that attaches to the ceiling and walls-then you just slide the boat on and off at one end....less worry about a piece of webbing giving out.....

>>Well...You forced me to ask the 'forbiden question.' lol.

What is the PERFECT way to store a poly Kayak such as the WS Tempest 165?

Is it with a belt (strap) around the boat at the bulkeads points? OR, would it be better just sitting flat on a "shelf" such as you describe? and if so, is it better to store it Upside down or on the side.. hmmmmmmmmmm?

Buy the way, is this what you are talking about? if different, please explain or better yet, can you show it?

Do you have a Picture of it?
You know, a PICTURE would be fantastic to really get it. I sort of understand what you are saying, but not exactly. Sounds interesting though.

Those were old pics…
…and I’ll try to get some more up tomorrow. I have a chickee(tiki hut for the west coasters :-)) over my dock in Key Largo.

Not sure of the line size, maybe 5/8. It is one continuous line so it terminates in a loop that is tied to a cleat. “Yacht Braid” is easier on the hands. The new pics should explain it a little better. It is OK for up to 65lbs., over that I would add more purchase to make it a little easier to lift.

Later, GH

Added a few pics…
Hope this helps…

Thanks for the Pics!
Thank you so much for the pictures… Boy, you do love canoes! :)… No I will not publish them because what I am interested in storing kayaks and I don’t believe you would store them the same as a canoe? But I am not sure of this. I will pay attention to the hardware you used since the principle seems to be the same.

Perfectly clear now with the new Pics!
