Anyone christen their kayak?

Cool Idea!!!
“IF” things work out for me to get the new kayak I am after this Spring, You can be sure I’ll have a couple friends over and have this ceremony. I printed out Commander Bob’s ceremony, and will put it to good use.

Ya can’t forget traditions!!

Happy Paddling!!!

Big deal
As an old guy-54 years of age- I do feel I need all the help I can get because of paddling in wild conditions. Have ridden chunks of ice downstream while having a sandwich with the club. Have almost been run over by miami vice style thunderboats at 100mph. So last summer when I got my new boat-a west side eft- My wife and I named this beautiful kayak- SAFE IN THE ARMS of JESUS 3 . Also have Safe in the Arms of Jesus 1 and 2- a kevlar glider and a graphite t-bolt. Was almost run over by a man standing at the back of his big sailboat. Anyhow I am thankful to be safe and do believe public acknowledgement is good insurance.

Yup, with Root Beer!
When I finished building my Pygmy Osprey Double, we took the kayak to a local lake for it’s maiden journey. Since my daughter helped out with the construction she got to do the christening. She was only nine years old at the time so champagne was out of the question – we decided to use some extra yummy ice-cold A&W root beer.

Here’s a picture of the moment:

i spilled a beer in my lap
trying to hold it between my legs. yeoww! that was cold, not to mention alcohol abuse. does that count as a cristening? and does that mean my boat is now and forever named ‘dammit’?

jewish too
I may be picking up a new boat this weekend, anyone know of a Mohel that that will perform a brit on a Royalex hull?
