A sprayskirt is an integral part of a sea kayak used on open water, not an optional accessory.
It can be essential when performing an assisted rescue to avoid swamping your boat.

semi-OT. A very few of the CD Squamish kayaks are composite. Mine (bought used) is just a bit under 40 pounds … maybe kevlar or ?? It is not fast, but OK. As Pikabike said, not narrow, but not as pudgy as some. A great kayak for this elder.
