I fell in love in Ginnie Springs and Weeki Wachee in Florida, is there anything like that in California or even Oregon?
Ahjumawi State Park in northeast California comes to mind. There was an article on a trip there in California Kayaker Magazine - issue #10 and can be read online in PDF frmat at California Kayaker Magazine - South West's source for paddlesports information
Flat limestone country with 60 inches of rain is hard to find in the West.
California and Oregon have wonderful paddling opportunities on rivers and lakes in every county.
You might like paddling just below the source springs on the metolious outside of bend or, further downstream it turns into whitewater but first few miles are friendly
The Metolius R is narrow and windy. It has lots of woody debris. A great river, but not much for paddling.
Sorry you feel that way, only recommending the first two or three miles to OP before it turns into ww. Metolious is one of my all time favorites. Agree that wood on the ww stretches significantly ups the danger but what a hoot!
