There is also a used L/XL Astral Camino for $35 (link below).

I have both (a V8 and a Camino) and the Camino is the same cut in the front as the V8 with more substantial pockets, but it doesn’t have the cooling perforations and it has a full solid back. I wear the Camino for more flotation and insulation for cooler temps and colder water - the V8 is my warm weather choice.

Great to hear, I just got a V-Eight because I read it’s the coolest. The huge sweat stain in the shape of the PFD isn’t really doing it for me!

The PFD was the biggest sticker shock for me as a new kayaker. I expected to pay for the boat and the paddle but was surprised when all the good PFDs were over $100. eBay to the rescue!

That Camano is showing up with $45 shipping for me though.

Since the Camino is $130 new that is still a good price even with the shipping.

I think I got my Camino from Outdoorplay for around $79 with free shipping. Outdoorplay has often had some good discounts on Astral PFD’s. When Astral tweaks their designs they seem to sell off the old models at a decent discount. They did that at one point with some V8’s after they improved the pockets in the newer models.

You will love that V8. It is so comfortable I often don’t realize I still have it on until I get into the car at the takeout. With my first PFD (even though it was a pretty comfortable Lotus side zip) I couldn’t wait to peel it off as soon as I landed on hot days.
