The Autumn Gales is entering its second decade of being the premier rough water event on the East Coast and is held in one of the few areas in the U.S. that has tidal currents worthy of holding British Canoeing’s Advance Sea Kayak Leader Training. Fisher’s Island Sound is an amazing location and this event strives to create unique experiences to learn and gain experience with rough water paddling.

I moored my sailboat in New London for a number of years, and FIS was my home waters. One thing I learned not to fight was the tide. Wonderful area though, as the more active areas of both fresh and salt water tend to be.
