My 40lb dog RockC and I have spent
many great miles and hours in both a Mad River Guide and more recently a Wenonah Vagabond. Both solo canoes. She behaves well in the boat, and that is the most important thing. She takes up most of the room in the bow, so that requires me to pack lite when we camp. Your dog is bigger than RockC and you are taller than me, but I have no idea what 16 stone means. (I’m 5’8" 150lbs) You might want to try a bigger boat at first as mentioned above. I love taking my dog paddling and camping but…It adds much work and responsibility on your part. Not everyone loves our dogs, like we do.
