My Icom M72 died after 11 years. Need a new radio ASAP. See Standard Horizon HX870, but seems way to complicated to deal with from the deck of a kayak in open ocean in rough conditions. Too big too. Icom M73 looks to be successor to M72 with a very strong 2000 mAh batt, 6 watts (no big deal) and an IPX8 submersible rating. Thoughts?
ICM24 has served me well for the past few years. No DSC, but I doubt you need that.
Waterproof as anything I’ve ever owned, floats, and battery lasts “forever” on a single charge with minimal use.
I have 850 and 851 standard horizon both have worked great for years. They are not complicated and DSC is good. Lat long in them is good too.
