Cool! You’d certainly see it coming. Are crocs ever hit by inattentive power boaters?

Yes gators, sea turtles, and manatees are all hit, and the power boat operators don’t have to be inattentive since the critters can be just under the surface in murky water. You often see prop scares on the backs of Manatees. My paddling partner had a big loggerhead turtle come up from under him and collide with his sea kayak while paddling Cape Romain one time. Here are two photos of death by power boat prop.

You can see where the prop cut the side of the shell on this loggerhead.

We saw 3 very large gators, and this dead one in the realitively narrow Alligator Creek. I strongly suspect if you turn the dead gator over you would see prop cuts on it’s spine.
