any tracking for speeds in any app of course? Any list of boats people paddled on the site corresponding to the order of finish? Looked at times briefly long day and week hitting the sack.
Big shade needed
Al, I agree. I overheated just after Straitsmouth and that knocked my time off the target I was keeping at. I was rather shaky getting off the water and sat in the shade on the CoC sidewalk having potato chips (electrolyte replacement therapy) and lemonade until the headache and shakes tamped down. I wish the bad would just be acoustic. The buffet/ band tent is the only shade otherwise.

You Think Intentional Rolls Might Help
On your seakayak? I find an intentional immersion helps in hot weather. Or frequent dipping of my solid (no mesh) ball cap in the water and dumping it back on my head helps too.
“Placid” water conditions practically makes drafting unavoidable. Since the rules permit drafting similar craft, seakayakers should arrange a drafting plan where each racer, in the pack, take turns leading until a mile or more from the finishline.
Retrospect dunkage
I was being competitively stubborn as the lead pack was separated by perhaps 50m per kayak. I. Retrospect it would have been very nice to cool off. Next time.

Great to see my paddling buddy Gerhard racked up another Blackburn win in an Adirondack Guideboat built by another good buddy, Pat. He won the class by a huge margin.

Those guide boats are absolutely gorgeous. There was a woman out rowing a tandem one solo. She was cruising!
