Blackflies and Dogs

I am planning on a trip to the Adirondack Mountains the middle of May. I have always avoided the Dak’s this time of year due to the possibilty of Blackflies being real bad.

I can cover up but I am worried about My Molly and My friends dog. If the Dogs are already using K-9 Advantix as flea and tick protection,will theses products keep the flies off the Dog?

Horse fly repellant?
I have horses and use their flyspray on my dogs too. But in California, I don’t think we have black flies, maybe check with your local feed/tack store and see what the horse folks swear by. We use the “swat” ointment on the ears of the dogs. Good luck!

Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Oil
Rub it on and carefully around the eyes. My dog and I live with black flies. Mid May is early for biting though they may be swarming
