Just got back from a flash 10 day semi-circuit of Michigan’s lower peninsula in the camper (Buchanan to Traverse to Alpena to Toledo and back to Pittsburgh. No paddling this trip, mostly visited kin there, as well as hiking and swimming along the beaches on the west coast. I had a friend along who was scoping the potential for doing an “all the lakes” expedition in the future sailing a St. Lawrence skiff or similar smaller craft along the coasts (he grew up sailing on the St. Lawrence).
We visited the maritime museums and harbors in Ludington and Alpena. Saw very few paddlers in our wanderings, but did come across a few unique watercraft, some in unusual places. And got to see some pretty nice sunsets from our free campsites on local farms (through Harvest Hosts membership):
