boatbuilding book recommendations?

the pygmy catalog includes “kayaks you can build” in their book section. an amazonsearch brings up several more volumes.

does anyone have a recomendation for–or against–any particular all-around reference on kayak building?

i’m not a video person. so unless a video is exceptional with great vantage points, detail demos, lighting, and cinematography, please keep it to books.

thanks!

Fo the next one…
The Strip-Built Sea Kayak by Nick Schade

An excellent book:
The Strip-Built Sea Kayak: Three Rugged, Beautiful Boats You Can Build…by Nick Schade

The Strip Built Kayak by Nick Schade
And Ted Moores book but it’s a tad pricey.

If you are
going to build a stripper, consider purchase of Nick Schades “The Strip-Built Sea Kayak” and Ted Moores “Kayak Craft”. I found them bundled on Amazon.com if I remember right.

I used information from both books in the construction of my first strip built.

for S&G, right?
Do I remember correctly that you settled on a Tern 14? If that’s the case, the “Kayaks You Can Build” is going to be the best choice - it’s the only book that deals with S&G boats. Well, I guess there’s Chris K’s New Kayak Shop, but I’d go with the other one. The Schade book and Moore’s Kayakcraft are both excellent, but deal with strip building.

yes, tghe 14’ tern this time,
a strip deck hybrid next time. “next time” meaning in a couple of years.

CLC video
Michelle - though you’re not a video person, you might want to try Chesapeake Light Craft’s building video. I’ve only seen the clips, but I’ll bet it’s well done. Find the clips at http://clcboats.com/video_clips.php
