Boats on cars - let’s see ‘em!

Old rig (Vancouver island, Goldstream :+1:t3:)

Now we need an off-road trailer, trying to figure that out before spring. The only other alternative is to buy a different hard top roof tent.

Trying to drive through Norway again with two kayaks (total weight under 100 pounds) if we can solve this problem.

Basically, he bought the wrong tent :expressionless:

Need this one

wrecked my Escape last weekend of October. Haven’t had a chance to get a rack for the honda I bought to replace it. Had to get on the water so back to the foam blocks for this outing

Abused this poor car for 11 years now. 70mpg in our stop and go traffic. It’s a keeper.

My support boat and my ride or die

Right now

I am discovering a use for the sunroof after all, watching the boats, the skis etc

I don’t trust my car racks for larger canoes, but I’ll transport a couple of my smaller ones locally on my car racks…

Gorgeous combo

But I like blue boats

That CD Extreme is a boat Id love to try out

Look at his unloading system!

That would be a great boat for PNW (tracking) and I love a rudder for holding on point for photography.

I wonder how hard to find those used because I’m sure if my husband had one he would love kayaking :laughing:and I could borrow it. His jumbo version Solstice is a bit of a toad :frog: IMO. Although it can carry a lot of camping gear.

Everybody needs a collection!

They are around but you have to wait or be willing to travel. I found this by searching through local Craigslist ads. I live in central New Hampshire; pictured is how I brought it home from Long Island.

I have not used it yet - the water is too hard around these parts!

I looked around and found one but maybe it’s an old ad.

I’d grab it up if it was near me.

I built out a list when I was looking in December. Try these as they still seem to be unsold (copy the link, remove the “x” at the front):

Mine is better (well, at least in the opinion of the only person I’ve asked - me!) . I have a removable vertical post on mine that makes the pivoting motion more secure. It is a nice option for a load/unload system.

No need to pivot the boat - I slide mine off the front or back using a bathmat. I have been meaning to take a video of the process for ages, maybe I’ll finally do it soon!

Very good prices I think. I am happy to see they are out there if you are willing to drive for it. How would you compare the Extreme to my other boat the CD Solstice? it looks more narrow and maybe faster. Have you played with rolling it yet? My Solstice is quite a bit more difficult than my easy Braveheart. I’d like to find one of the Extremes for my husband and sell his fat HV Solstice.
The PNW area around Gig Harbor requires a boat that tracks well, IMO. We like to paddle to Vashon Island. My CD Solstice handles amazingly in big water. (I am not sure why; less rocker, longer, stable?)

That is what I do when I am alone. It is all in technique but now that I got a new car, I am worried if it slips.

I would say so. :+1:

Every combination of boat, car and person loading is different, and throw in some wind and maybe a parking spot that isn’t level and caution is always warranted!

Picked up my first sea kayak today. Not sure which is older the boat or the car.
