wrecked my Escape last weekend of October. Haven’t had a chance to get a rack for the honda I bought to replace it. Had to get on the water so back to the foam blocks for this outing
That would be a great boat for PNW (tracking) and I love a rudder for holding on point for photography.
I wonder how hard to find those used because I’m sure if my husband had one he would love kayaking and I could borrow it. His jumbo version Solstice is a bit of a toad IMO. Although it can carry a lot of camping gear.
They are around but you have to wait or be willing to travel. I found this by searching through local Craigslist ads. I live in central New Hampshire; pictured is how I brought it home from Long Island.
I have not used it yet - the water is too hard around these parts!
Mine is better (well, at least in the opinion of the only person I’ve asked - me!) . I have a removable vertical post on mine that makes the pivoting motion more secure. It is a nice option for a load/unload system.
No need to pivot the boat - I slide mine off the front or back using a bathmat. I have been meaning to take a video of the process for ages, maybe I’ll finally do it soon!
Very good prices I think. I am happy to see they are out there if you are willing to drive for it. How would you compare the Extreme to my other boat the CD Solstice? it looks more narrow and maybe faster. Have you played with rolling it yet? My Solstice is quite a bit more difficult than my easy Braveheart. I’d like to find one of the Extremes for my husband and sell his fat HV Solstice.
The PNW area around Gig Harbor requires a boat that tracks well, IMO. We like to paddle to Vashon Island. My CD Solstice handles amazingly in big water. (I am not sure why; less rocker, longer, stable?)
Every combination of boat, car and person loading is different, and throw in some wind and maybe a parking spot that isn’t level and caution is always warranted!
